The weather’s so gloomy, it’s been raining in the past week, cold and sandstormy, means an early night, lots of cuddling and lounging in bed for as long as you can. It also means food deliveries, late night pancit canton cravings, sometimes milk tea and no workout.
I’m starting to hate myself for being lazy already. I haven’t been doing proper workouts and we were eating too much fast foods, milk teas and fried takoyakis for dinner. So we decided to take this matter seriously and do the juice cleanse for 10 days.
Let me tell you though that I am not a fan of extreme dieting or crash dieting. I always believe that balanced diet and workout is the key to long term weight goals. However, lately I have strong cravings for fried foods, burger, milk teas and sundaes and would like to cut it down. I realized I need to put restriction on myself with no alternatives or options available. Say if someone will order pizza tonite, I’d rather say “No I’m not allowed” than “Yea sure, I can burn that the next day anyway”. I chose to give my body a break from all the junk and focus my mind on getting back to my healthy routine.
I’ve done a lot of research and after reading so many reviews I decided to go with JJ Smith’s Green Smoothie Cleanse for 10 days. One can lose up to 15lbs though it varies on each person. You can choose to do the full cleanse where you will have 3 smoothies in one day and have a bit of snacks like eggs, raw veggies and nuts. If you are not mentally prepared you can opt to do the moderate cleanse and have 2 smoothies and 1 meal in a day.
I will be documenting each day and tell you how HARD it is. Lol. I started today, Sunday, and will last until Tuesday next week. I think I need all the willpower and motivation I can get to survive.
Here are my things to do before the BIG DAY!!
- Coerced your husband to treat you for a full week of eating whatever you want. 😀 (with a bit of negotiations included)
- Have one last full meal of Baby back ribs and Molten Chocolate cake from Chilis, 2 pcs Jollibee chicken joy and Spaghetti, 3 pcs KFC with rice and gravy, Sushi and maki, Dominos pizza, Shake Shack burger and 3 Large Milkteas with tapioca pearl and coffee jelly. (spread throughout the week)
- Print inspirational quotes and motivational pictures and post them in your room or make it your wallpaper.
- Invest in a smart scale. (Rio’s long time wish) We bought the Runtastic Libra scale from Virgin Megastore.
- Buy 5 days worth of veggies from the Organic shop which thankfully falls on their discount day! Yey! And prepare all you need for your juice cleanse.
DAY 1. APPLE BERRY
I was excited in the morning to prepare the juice. Today’s juice has spinach, apple, mango, strawberry and grapes. It looks horrible but surprisingly taste good. I am used to having shakes for breakfast so so far so good in the morning. I brought some almonds for my morning snack which unfortunately isn’t enough to keep me full for 2 hours. The first thing I noticed was by the time I had my lunch I am still full of energy unlike when I’m having my normal meals which makes me feel sleepy and sluggish. My stomach is not bloated, I keep going to the bathroom and I don’t feel tired. Though when the clock strikes 5PM (almost time to go home) my energy is getting low. I was trying to keep my last smoothie for dinner but Im super hungry and I have to workout when I get home so I drank it anyway. By 7PM I dressed up to go to gym and wow I was able to run for 30mins!!! I was contemplating whether to go to the gym or not, but we pushed our selves to go otherwise. Woot woot! Soooooo, we finished all our smoothie way before dinner time so I thought I might as well used my snack allowance for dinner. I boiled 2 eggs and eat it with banana. And here I am now ending my day with this blog post. So far I’m feeling great.
I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw that I lost 2KG’s already! I believe it’s all water weight, so let’s see in the next few days. I’m already gearing myself for our cycling class on Tuesday. I don’t know how I will survive!
Let me know if you too are doing cleanse or detoxing and share your experience below! I will keep you posted for the next 2 days.
