When you think of Bali, Indonesia, Im pretty sure the movie Eat, Pray and Love comes into your mind. The lush greenery and rice paddies of Ubud, palm reading with an old man named Ketut (which is very common in Bali), motorcycle ride along the streets and temples on top of the hills. Buttt, if you are the thrill seeker like us and putting off Bali because of what has been shown in the media then you can go ahead and book those tickets because Bali is more than just rice paddies and monkey forest. Bali is full of adventure for everyone!
Here’s my top 5 adventure tour in Bali:
For all the nature lovers, this one is perfect for you. Walk through the shallow water, abseil down a waterfall, and jump off the cliff! What more you can ask for? We booked our trip with Adventures and Spirits. True to their name, the guides were all smiles with very positive energy as if they were not working. We thoroughly enjoyed our day with our guide as well as with our group. This is one experience you wouldn’t want to miss when you visit Bali.
2. Mount Batur Sunrise trek
Climb an active volcano? Yes! I welcomed my birthday at the top of Mount Batur volcano witnessing the beautiful sunrise. It was one of the most beautiful sunrise I’ve ever seen. At the top you can see the smoke coming out of the tiny holes and the area was a bit hot which is so cool by the way. The trek took us 2 hours to ascend while going down took us almost 3 hours. It was challenging but it is suitable to hikers with minimal experience. The only problem I encountered was the magma along the way going down. It was slippery and I had to ask the guide to help me while descending. I guess I can also blame it on the shoes I was wearing as I was not wearing the proper trek shoes. If the guide wasn’t there I would have slide my way down.
3. Snorkeling in Nusa Lembongan
Book yourself a boat ticket on the way to Nusa Lembongan. A small neighboring island of Bali that can be explored in a day riding a motorbike. It’s not crowded as Bali but you’ll get the most amazing sunset and laid back mood without the pushy vendors. We had a snorkeling tour with New Bros. It was 3 part tour of the area. We were hoping to see some manta rays but with the rough sea we were not able to see them. So we went to other areas and saw these colorful small fishes. I wish we had enough time to explore the island and relax by the beach. We spent most of the day snorkeling then we had to catch the last boat ride back to Bali by end of the day.
4. Coffee Extravaganza & Water Rafting
There’s nothing more daring than to drink various type of flavors of coffee made out of poop of the Civet. I meant the coffee beans came out straight out of the a$$ of the Civet. Yes. You read that right. But then ofcourse it goes through the process of making coffee. Not directly out of the a$$ the coffee were served to you. What makes this thrilling was the fact that you get to taste different flavors of coffee that will keep you awake the whole day! But it was well worth of the experience. My favorite was the Coconut flavor! After having the Kopi Luwak we took our paddle stick and hop on the raft. It was so much fun doing the water rafting. Seeing all the trees surrounding the river, I can stay on the side all day and just chill. Don’t be fooled by the smooth flow of river there were some bumpy areas and you’re in for a surprise at the end!
5. Seafood Feast
If you are in Southeast Asia be sure to not miss having seafood. Why is this in the list? Well because the fresh food thrilled us plus the price we pay for what we ate is nothing compared to what you can get here in Dubai. With the perfect sunset by the beach, acoustic serenade, unlimited rice plus a coconut juice out of the nut. What more you can ask for? I think this one completed our whole Bali experience. If I could only fly to Bali now and have seafood for dinner, then why not?
